Hildegarde Handsaeme is born in Kortrijk (Belgium) in 1958. As a kid she was fascinated by Picasso. Years later she took the jump and with trial and error she started off. Her love for natural, female forms is her main inspiration source carefully chosen forms and colors make her work honest and sincere.
A few year ago she finally got the recognition she deserved by ending up as third in an international art contest in Lbiramont.
She was also the only Belgium women that was mentioned in the book Women in Art: Masterpieces of Visual Art, The Great Female Artists from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era - Volume 1 Edition.
This is not the last time we talk about Hildegarde. Her work is very popular in England and the US. Also in the Radisson Blu in Antwerp you can admire her work.
We hope that this exhibition will be a way for the rest of Belgium to discover this jewel in a crown.
